Accepted tests – general framework

According to the university's announcement and international admissions regulations, Harran University adopts a set of application pathways, including the following:

• TR-YÖS test, which is the admission test for international students in Türkiye, organized by the ÖSYM Foundation.
• Harran University YÖS exam (HRÜ YÖS).
• YÖS exams issued by other Turkish universities, within the validity conditions specified in the regulation.
• International tests such as SAT, ACT, IB, GCE A-Level, and others, which fall under the category of “international tests”.
• National tests or national secondary school certificates for some countries, and are classified under the category of “national tests”, with the possibility of applying with the diploma only in specific cases according to the approved conditions.

Minimum required grades – according to the official regulations ​

The regulations do not specify a fixed, independent number for each international test, but rather adopt a unified standard after converting the results to the percentile system, which is as follows:

• A minimum of 40 out of 100 after conversion to the percentile system, when applying via the HRÜ YÖS exam, or via international tests, or via national tests, or via YÖS issued by other universities.
• A minimum of 60 out of 100 after conversion to the percentile system for applicants using only the diploma without attaching a test result.
• If no results from approved tests are submitted, the regulations stipulate that the average of the high school diploma used in the selection process must not be less than 60 out of 100.

The mechanism for calculating the ranking – a practical explanation ​

The regulations stipulate that the "selection point" is calculated based on the test score in addition to the high school diploma score, according to percentages that vary depending on the type of academic program:

• Health disciplines, including the Medical Institutes of Occupational Health (MYO), as well as engineering and architecture programs: 80 percent for the exam score, plus 20 percent for the diploma score.
• The remaining four-year bachelor's degree programs: 50 percent for the exam grade, plus 50 percent for the diploma grade.
• Vocational institutes and applied schools, excluding health institutes (MYO): 50 percent for the test score, plus 50 percent for the diploma score.

Validity of results – a key element for student file planning ​

• YÖS exam results within Türkiye, including university-specific YÖS exams, are valid for one year according to the regulations.
• Tests classified as college entrance exams, such as the SAT, are valid for two years.
• High school graduation exams, whether national or international certificates, are not usually bound by a specific validity period within the text of the regulation.

Basic documents for online application (to be uploaded within the system) ​

The online application file is typically built upon the following documents:

• High school diploma, accompanied by a translation into Turkish or English.
• The transcript must include the subjects and grades, certified by the school, and translated into Turkish or English.
• A document showing the result of one of the accepted tests, such as TR-YÖS, HRÜ YÖS, SAT and the like, with a translation into Turkish or English where needed.
• A recent personal photo.
• Passport, with a Turkish or English translation if required, as stated in the advertisement.
• Turkish language proficiency certificate (TÖMER) for those who possess it; it is optional but important.
• An official identity document, depending on the applicant's status.

Additional documents are required depending on the case (explicitly stated in the university announcement) ​

• For applicants who were Turkish citizens and then lost them or their legal status changed, a family population record (Aile Nüfus Kayıt Örneği) may be required.
• For a Turkish citizen who has completed their secondary education through the open education system outside of Türkiye, an entry and exit statement from the country may be required.

Final registration documents after acceptance (original documents must be submitted) ​

According to university regulations, the essential final registration documents include the following:

• The original high school diploma, in addition to the original equivalency document (Denklik), noting that those who do not have the equivalency may register conditionally, and are obligated to bring it later, and if it is not completed, the registration will be cancelled.
• The original transcript, accompanied by a certified translation into Turkish or English from a notary public or official representative.
• Original copy of the test result document used in the application, with a certified translation where required.
• Turkish language proficiency certificate, if available. If not, the conditional registration system or language year will be applied according to the approved rules.
• Biometric personal photos; the list specifies four photos.
• A passport that includes a study visa for the categories that are required to have a visa.
• A receipt proving payment of fees or financial contribution, if required from the student according to the approved fee decisions.

Additional documents for postgraduate studies or specialized fields ​

Important organizational note: Harran University separates admission to diploma and bachelor's degree programs from admission to graduate programs. Graduate admission is handled through the Graduate School and its independent announcements. The following are the most important documents required in graduate program announcements for applicants from outside Türkiye:

• A graduation certificate or university diploma, whether for a bachelor’s or master’s degree, depending on the required degree, provided that it is certified by the foreign missions of the applicant’s country.
• University transcript, certified in the same way.
• The application form, in addition to the documents declared by the applicant, with certified copies.
• A teaching or learning visa for countries that require it, with a certified copy.
• Very important note for PhD programs and some graduate programs: Foreign or Turkish language certificates may be required, and language proficiency exams and their dates are announced through the pages of the Graduate School or the University's School of Languages.

Official dates (Latest available and approved announcement — Academic year 2025–2026) ​

Important time notice for publication: As of December 26, 2025, the following dates have already passed, but they represent the latest official calendar published in the university's documented international admissions announcement and are considered a reference date:

• Application period: From July 28, 2025 to August 8, 2025.
• Announcement of accepted applicants: August 22, 2025.
• Online admission and initial registration: from August 22, 2025 to August 29, 2025.
• Final registration for students residing within Türkiye: from September 8, 2025 to September 19, 2025.
• Final registration for students coming from outside Türkiye: from September 8, 2025 to January 30, 2026.

The selection and ranking mechanism as stipulated by the university.

• The application is submitted entirely electronically through the OBS student information system via the university's application page.
• In the 2025–2026 session, the university's announcement explicitly stated that the application was free of charge.
• Applicants are entitled to choose a number of preferences not exceeding five programs.
• The university adopts the international admissions regulations in the selection process, which includes calculating housing points according to different percentages depending on the academic field, whether health specialties, engineering or architecture, compared to the rest of the programs, in addition to rules related to the validity of tests, the diversity system and nationality quotas.
• The university explicitly warns that submitting forged, incomplete, or incorrect documents will result in the cancellation of all procedures, even if initial acceptance has been granted.
• Regarding the equivalence document (Denklik), the university allows application without attaching it in the first stage, but it requires the student to bring it within a specific time period after registration, and failure to comply with this exposes the registration to cancellation.

A crucial note regarding the Turkish language (a practical part of the actual admission process) ​

• The language of instruction at Harran University is Turkish, and the regulations require the submission of a recent certificate of proficiency in the Turkish language issued within a period not exceeding five years.
• The regulation explicitly states that the TÖMER certificate at the C1 level is accepted, whether it is issued by Turkish universities or by accredited institutes such as the Yunus Emre Institute or other officially mentioned entities.
• If a student does not have a Turkish proficiency certificate upon registration, he may be accepted conditionally and given a deadline to bring the language certificate. Failure to meet this condition within the specified period will result in termination of the relationship with the university in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.
