This course includes four educational units:
Unit One: The Importance of Active Listening
- Explaining the importance of active listening skills in the workplace and the benefits of mastering them.
- Addressing the communication model and the role of feedback in completing the communication cycle.
Unit Two: Listening Tools
- How the listening process works and the tools used in it, such as the senses of hearing and sight, in addition to other tools such as emotion and reason.
- Characteristics of a good listener.
Unit Three: Barriers to Effective Listening
- Behaviors that hinder effective listening, such as judging a speaker based on their color, gender, or nationality.
- The impact of listener stereotypes in creating an obstacle to effective listening.
- Other behaviors such as interrupting the speaker, trying to monopolize the conversation, or changing the subject.
Unit Four: How to Create a Good Listening Environment
- Create a good listening environment by activating the listening mindset to support the speaker and understand his feelings.
- Reading body language to understand the meanings behind words, whether said during conversation or not.
- Several techniques contribute to creating an effective listening environment, such as paraphrasing what the speaker said and using interruption in a positive way.
- How to use effective questions to enrich conversation.
