Components of doctoral programs

1. Courses:
   • The student is expected to complete a set of credit hours consisting of core courses and elective courses.

   • The student is required to conduct independent research in their area of ​​specialization. This component typically amounts to a minimum of 24 credit hours.
3. Written and oral qualifying exam:
   • The student must successfully pass a written and oral qualifying examination in a set of specified areas before being allowed to progress further in the program.

   • The student must prepare a research proposal in his/her field of specialization in order to conduct his/her thesis project.
5. PhD thesis exam:
   • The student must complete their thesis project and successfully defend it in an oral examination of their thesis (thesis defense) to receive their degree.

Financing

All eligible full-time students will receive the following benefits under the initiative, which provides support throughout their doctoral studies (for three years):

1. Full educational support.
2. Monthly living allowance: [Total $54,000 ($14,400) per year].
3. On-campus housing.
4. Universal health coverage in university hospitals.
5. Support for student transportation from outside Riyadh.
6. Part-time job opportunities are available.
7. Eligibility to work in Saudi Arabia for up to one year after graduation.

Eligibility criteria

1. General requirements:

1. Master's degree from an accredited institution.
2. English language proficiency:
   • Only official TOEFL, IELTS, and STEP scores are accepted.
   • Kansas State University requires a TOEFL score of at least 61 on the IBT (Internet-Based Test), 6 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or 85 on the STEP test.
   • Kansas State University's admission code is 147080 for IELTS and 7498 for TOEFL.
   • This requirement may be waived if the applicant holds a master's degree from an accredited institution in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
3. My letters of recommendation.
4. CV: with proof of recent publication or patent if available.
5. Statement of purpose.
6. GRE General Test: Preferred, but not required, unless specified by the specific program.
7. Conduct a personal interview (virtual or in person) may be required.

Important notes

1. There is no maximum age limit.
2. There are no fees when submitting an application.
3. If accepted into the program, you will need to provide: proof of financial ability via a bank account, or a letter of scholarship.
4. If accepted into the program, you will need to submit: a Dichiarazione di Valore in loco certificate issued by the Italian Embassy in the country issuing the certificate.
5. If accepted into the program, you must submit an application for a residence permit and a study visa.
