About the opportunity
Solidarité des Jeunes (SJ) is a national movement for informal education, composed of a national secretary (in Paris) and eight regional delegations throughout France. Our delegations host international volunteers throughout the year. All of our activities benefit the local community and share a common denominator:
- Bringing together people from different cultures and social backgrounds to participate in social, environmental and cultural development.
- Contribute to the integration of groups with limited opportunities.
Each project is dedicated to solidarity and community living. We believe that cultural exchange is key to personal learning, and that volunteers have the opportunity to experience and develop themselves.

Duration of volunteering
- 12 months.
Training while volunteering
- You will work approximately 35 hours per week, the work will be varied, and you will receive support from the team.
- We work on:
- Building renovation.
- Gardening.
- Organizing and participating in cultural events (inside and outside the center).
- Organizing and participating in workshops and meetings.
- Organizing and participating in group life (cooking, cleaning, etc.).
- Hosting groups.
- Youth and Individual Exchange.
- Leading summer work camps.
- You will receive animation training in April, two seminars organized by the French agency, and a volunteer meeting with all volunteers.

Financing
- La Maison des Bateleurs is located in Montendre, Poitou-Charentes, western France.
- The site includes a large main house with an annex, a vegetable garden, and a bamboo forest!
- Located near a golf club on the outskirts of the village, 10 minutes from the train station.
- As a volunteer, you will share a home with other volunteers!
- It is very important to stick to daily life, as it is in sharing a big house, because the house will look like its residents, it is your beautiful home for a few months!

An official letter will be provided to support your Schengen visa application, which can be used during application.
Admission criteria
- No qualifications are required to participate, but a desire to volunteer and an openness to exploring new cultures are required.
- The programme is open to everyone from the European Union or partner countries, aged 18 to 30.
- Having a driver's license is highly recommended, but the most important thing is motivation!
