Eligibility criteria
- Open to all nationalities.
- Applicants for a bachelor's degree must have a high school diploma.
- Applicants for a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree.
- Applicants for a PhD degree must have a master's degree.
Required documents
When applying to the University of Alberta, you must disclose your full academic credentials from all universities, colleges, and higher education institutions you have previously or currently attended, even if they are not relevant to the degree you are applying for. Programs must be listed individually and must include:
- Completed degrees, diplomas, and post-secondary certificates.
- Programs currently under implementation.
- Non-accredited studies or courses.
- Courses or programs taken through university exchanges or distance learning.
- Balance transfer courses.
- Online training courses.
- Incomplete or discontinued studies.
- Failed courses.
Document upload requirements:
- Any screenshots, photographs, or printouts of unofficial documents will be rejected.
- Documents notarized by a notary public, or certified by a lawyer, professor, or judge are not accepted.
- Academic records uploaded to the online application portal are considered unofficial documents.
- Do not submit printed official documents with your application. Printed documents will only be requested if you receive a conditional offer of admission.
- Your offer of admission is dependent upon receipt and verification of these official documents.

- Your full name.
- Name of post-secondary institution.
- Academic program.
- Classification chart/scale legend.
- Course names and numbers.
- Year and period of attendance.

- Academic records must be recent.

- The date on which the degree was awarded.

- Postgraduate certificates, degrees, and transcripts from China must be submitted in their original language with an English translation.
