Trabzon Üniversitesi

Trabzon Üniversitesi is a relatively young public university with a long and distinguished history. It was officially established as an independent university on May 18, 2018, following the separation of several prestigious faculties and institutes from Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ) to form a new academic entity. The university's main campus is located in the beautiful coastal district of Akçaabat, a short distance from the city center of Trabzon in the Black Sea region.

The university is distinguished by its long-standing academic tradition in the social sciences, education, arts, and sports. For example, its Fatih Faculty of Education, founded in 1963, is one of the most prestigious teacher training colleges in Turkey. Trabzon University differs from its neighbor, the Technical University, in its greater emphasis on the humanities, law, and arts, rather than engineering and medicine.

The university offers a tranquil learning environment surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the Black Sea (mountains and sea), and boasts a comprehensive infrastructure including central libraries, state-of-the-art sports facilities (due to the strength of the Faculty of Sports Sciences), theaters, and conference halls. The university aims to be a leading cultural, artistic, and social center, attracting students seeking excellence in humanities and arts disciplines away from the hustle and bustle of major cities.
