Following restructuring and the separation of applied sciences, the university focused on its strong academic colleges, most notably:

• Faculty of Engineering: Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
• Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences: Software Engineering, Information Systems Engineering.
• Medical colleges: Faculty of Human Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry.
• Faculty of Business Administration: Business Administration, Human Resource Management, International Trade and Finance.
• Faculty of Political Science: International Relations, Political Science and Public Administration.
• Faculty of Sharia: It is considered one of the leading Sharia faculties in Türkiye and attracts a large number of international students.
• Other specializations: Faculty of Law, Faculty of Communication.

The university adopts a flexible policy in accepting international students, and the priorities are as follows:

Unified YÖS Exam (TR-YÖS):

• The university relies on it primarily.
• To compete for engineering and medical school places, high grades must be achieved.
• (Medicine: 400+/500, Engineering: 300+/500).
• For administrative and literary specializations, lower grades starting from 200-250 may be accepted. ​

International Certificates (SAT):

• The university accepts the SAT 1 test.
• A minimum total score of 1000/1600 is usually required, with a minimum of 600 in the mathematics section for engineering and medical specialties.

Secondary school certificate (Tawjihi/Baccalaureate):

• The university accepts high school diplomas in the selection process, but priority is always given to those with YÖS and SAT certificates.
• Minimum GPA requirements: For Medicine and Dentistry 90% or higher. For Engineering 70-80%. For other disciplines 60%.

Essential documents required (for online application):

• Personal photo.
• A copy of a valid passport.
• High school diploma (baccalaureate) translated into Turkish or English and certified.
• Grade Report: Translated and certified showing grades for all years of high school.
• TR-YÖS or SAT test certificate.

Additional documents (upon final confirmation or for postgraduate studies):

• A document proving the equivalence of the high school diploma to the Turkish diploma (obtained from the Turkish embassy or the Directorate of Education in Türkiye).
• Turkish language proficiency certificate (TÖMER): Usually level B2 or C1.
• Motivation letter.
• Letters of recommendation.
• Summary of the Master's thesis (for PhD applicants).

If it is not available, the student is given time to study the language at the (SADEM) institute affiliated with the university.

Based on the university's usual annual calendar, here are the projections for 2025:

• Application period: Applications are usually accepted in late June or early July.
• Application deadline: It lasts for two to three weeks.
• Results announcement: This will take place in mid-August.
• Registration confirmation: This takes place in late August.
• Vacancies selection process: The university usually conducts a second and third selection process in September to fill the remaining seats, which is an excellent opportunity for those who were not lucky in the first selection.

The selection process:

• The selection process is done online and with high transparency.
• The selection score is calculated based on the type of exam submitted (YOS, SAT, or secondary) taking into account the "country quota" (maximum number of students of the same nationality).
