This scholarship is considered a pioneering step in Egypt in engaging the private sector in supporting education in the long term. Since the program's launch in 2000, the Ansi Sawiris Scholarship has contributed to funding the dreams of 99 outstanding students by providing global educational opportunities at the best American universities for undergraduate or master's studies, aiming to enhance Egypt's economic competitiveness.
The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, financial need, and leadership behavior, demonstrated through high academic performance, participation in extracurricular activities, and entrepreneurial initiatives. The scholarship includes: full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, travel tickets, and comprehensive health insurance.

- For undergraduate scholarships, two letters of recommendation are required.

Admission criteria for the Sawiris Scholarship
For bachelor's degree:
- Must be an Egyptian citizen and resident in Egypt (preference will not be given to applicants with dual nationality).
- A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or 90% or equivalent from national or international high school certificates.
- Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL iBT® with a minimum total score of 100 or IELTS (Academic) with a minimum total score of 7.5.
- Minimum SAT I score: 1450 (taken within the last two years) or minimum ACT score: 32 (taken within the last two years).
- Extracurricular activities: Must have participated or currently participate in extracurricular activities.
- Applicants must plan to start their studies in the United States in 2027.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have not resided outside Egypt or lived abroad for more than two years.
- Must commit to returning to Egypt for two years immediately after successfully completing the bachelor's degree.
For master's:
- Must be an Egyptian citizen and resident in Egypt (preference will not be given to applicants with dual nationality).
- A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or very good or higher (cumulative grade).
- Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL iBT® test with a total score of at least 100 or IELTS (Academic) test with a total score of at least 7.5.
- For applicants to the MBA program, the minimum GMAT score: 650 or higher or GMAT Focus score of 595 or higher (taken within the last 5 years) or a minimum total GRE score of 315 (Analytical Writing: 4.5).
- For applicants to the Master's in Engineering, the minimum total GRE score: 315 (Analytical Writing: 4.5).
- Extracurricular activities: Must have participated or currently participate in extracurricular activities.
- A minimum of three years of work experience for applicants to the MBA program.
- A minimum of two years of work experience for applicants to the engineering program.
- Applicants must plan to start their studies in the United States in 2027.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously resided outside Egypt or have not spent more than two years abroad.
- Commitment to return to Egypt for two years immediately after successfully completing their studies.
- Male applicants must provide proof of completing military service or exemption or deferment.
Age requirements
- Applicants must not be older than 19 years. For the graduate scholarship, applicants must not be older than 35 years.
