Mardin Artuklu Üniversitesi

Mardin Artuklu Üniversitesi (MAÜ) is a Turkish state university located in the historic city of Mardin, in southeastern Anatolia. The university was officially founded on May 29, 2007, and is named after the Artuk dynasty, which ruled the region during the Middle Ages.

The university is distinguished by its position as a center of higher education in a region of profound cultural and civilizational diversity, situated at the crossroads of Syriac, Kurdish, Arab, and Turkish civilizations. For this reason, the university places particular emphasis on Middle Eastern studies, Arabic language and literature, and architectural and historical disciplines that reflect the city's unique character.

Its Faculty of Architecture is a distinguished institution, drawing inspiration for its designs and curriculum from the traditional stone architecture of Mardin. The university is also a pioneer in teaching rare disciplines such as Syriac language and literature, alongside Kurdish language and literature. The university aims to be an academic bridge between Turkey and neighboring Middle Eastern countries, attracting a large number of Arab and international students.
