Karabük University comprises a wide range of faculties covering various scientific and literary fields, most notably:

Medical and health colleges:

• Faculty of Human Medicine.
• Faculty of Dentistry.
• Faculty of Health Sciences (includes specializations such as nursing, physical therapy, and child development).

Engineering and Science Colleges:

• Faculty of Engineering (known for its specializations in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering).
• Faculty of Architecture (comprising architecture and urban planning).
• Faculty of Science (comprising Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry).
• Faculty of Forestry.

Administrative and literary colleges:

The university adopts a flexible policy in accepting international students, and the priorities are as follows:

Unified YÖS Exam (TR-YÖS):

• Reliance on the unified YÖS exam, organized by the Turkish Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), has become essential in the selection process, especially for medical and engineering specialties.

Karabük University YÖS Exam (KBU-YÖS):

• The university organizes its own YÖS exam and gives priority in admission to students who score highly on this exam.
• The required grades to compete for admission to human medicine and dentistry are usually above 90%.
• While engineering requires grades ranging from 70% to 85%.

International Certificates (SAT):

• The university may accept exams such as the SAT (with a minimum score of 1000-1200) as a supporting criterion, but priority remains with the YÖS.

Secondary school certificate (Tawjihi/Baccalaureate):

• In some years, the university opens the application and selection process based solely on the high school diploma grade for certain majors (often non-medical).
• The minimum required grade is usually 60% for general majors.
• Medical specialties, however, require near-perfect grades if the high school diploma is accepted.

Essential documents:

• A copy of a valid passport.
• A recent personal photo.
• High school diploma (Tawjihi/Baccalaureate) translated into Turkish or English and certified.
• The transcript is translated and certified, showing the grades for the academic subjects.
• High school diploma equivalency certificate (Denklik Belgesi) - can be submitted during final registration and is not a requirement during initial application in some cases.
• The result of the YÖS exam (TR-YÖS or KBU-YÖS), if available.

Additional documents (for postgraduate studies or special cases):

• Bachelor's degree certificate (for Master's application) or Master's degree certificate (for PhD application) translated and certified.
• University transcript translated and certified.
• A letter of motivation explaining why the university and major were chosen.
• Academic recommendation letters (usually 2) from former professors.
• A language proficiency certificate (TOMER for Turkish C1, or TOEFL for English) if available, otherwise the student will take an exemption exam or a preparatory year.

The university follows an academic calendar that may vary slightly from year to year, but the general timeframe is as follows:

• Application period: It usually begins in May or June of each year.
• Announcing the results: The results of those accepted are usually announced in July or August.
• Registration period: Accepted students are given a specific period (usually two weeks) to submit their original documents to the student affairs office on campus and pay the first installment.
• Additional admissions selection: If there are still vacant seats, the university may open a second and third admissions round in September and October.

The selection process:

The selection process is entirely electronic, based on the highest grade in the YÖS or high school exam (depending on the type of selection), taking into account the "Country Quota," where the university allocates a certain number of seats to each nationality to ensure cultural diversity.
