​Requirements

  • You must be a final-year high-school student or a graduate.
  • You must meet the international applicant categories defined by the university.
  • You must possess a high-school diploma (or equivalent).
  • You must achieve a sufficient score/placement as specified on the specific program page (international applicants are placed directly by the university).
  • For English-taught programs, you must meet the specific English proficiency requirement stated on the program page (e.g., 80% on Topkapı’s proficiency exam or a YÖK-equivalent like TOEFL).
  • For Turkish-taught programs, you must provide a TÖMER certificate at the B1 level at the time of application. Some programs may require a higher level (e.g., B2) as specified on their page.​

Requirements

  • You must hold a Bachelor’s degree (from a 4-year program) or have documented graduation from a higher-education program of at least 4 years.
  • Non-thesis programs (e.g., Gastronomy) explicitly waive the ALES exam and a foreign-language requirement.
  • Thesis programs have specific criteria that vary by program:
    • Visual Communication Design (Thesis): ALES ≥55; mandatory portfolio; final score = 50% ALES + 20% portfolio + 10% Undergraduate GPA + 20% interview.
    • MIS (Non-Thesis, English): Undergraduate GPA ≥2.00; ALES not required; no foreign-language requirement; resume required.
    • Graphic Design (Thesis): Bachelor’s degree; scientific evaluation + portfolio + oral interview; ALES and foreign-language not required.
  • For Turkish-medium master's programs, foreign nationals must document Turkish proficiency at the B2 level (from Topkapı-TÖMER, Yunus Emre, or another recognized center). Conditional pre-admission to learn Turkish is available with a written commitment to a one-year Turkish course; failure to fulfill this commitment ends student rights.

    • MIS PhD: Requires a thesis master’s and ALES ≥55; also defines eligible feeder fields.
  • Architecture PhD: ALES ≥55 (Quantitative) from the last 3 years; a foreign-language certificate (YDS/e-YDS/YÖKDİL ≥55 or accepted equivalent); a science exam and an interview.
