The university adopts a clear and competitive admissions policy, with a noticeable strictness in medical colleges compared to the rest of the programs.

First: TR-YÖS (Unified YÖS) exam

The university uses the standardized YÖS exam as the primary criterion for selecting between applicants, and the required scores vary according to the specialization:

• Human medicine and dentistry: Competition is very high, and admission usually requires high scores, usually no less than 400 to 450 out of 500, which is equivalent to ninety percent or higher, to guarantee a real chance of a seat.
• Engineering and Veterinary Medicine: Acceptable grades generally range between 300 and 350, varying according to the specialization and the number of available seats.   
• Agriculture and other specializations: Relatively lower scores may be accepted, usually ranging between 200 and 250, depending on the level of competition and the availability of vacancies.

Second: General Secondary Education Certificate

In some sessions, the university opens the door for applications and admission based on the high school GPA, in order to compete for the remaining seats, especially in literary disciplines, vocational institutes, and sometimes in some engineering and agriculture programs.

• Obtaining a grade of eighty percent or higher enhances the chances of acceptance into scientific and engineering disciplines when applying through the high school diploma.

Third: Language requirements

• The language of instruction at the university is Turkish.
• A Turkish language proficiency certificate of type TÖMER is required, with a level of no less than B2, and preferably level C1.
• If a language certificate is not available, the student can register conditionally and then enroll in the preparatory year for the Turkish language at the university's language teaching center.

Required basic documents

• Passport, personal data page, plus a certified translation if requested by the university.
• High school diploma or equivalent, translated and certified according to university requirements.
• High school transcript, translated and certified.
• A document showing the result of the entrance exam, if the exam was required in the year of application in question.
• A recent personal photo.
• A Turkish language proficiency certificate of type TÖMER or its equivalent, if available, depending on the language of the program.

Additional documents for postgraduate studies or specialized fields

Master's and PhD programs, depending on the nature of the program, require a set of additional documents, most notably:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree certificate, depending on the required degree, in addition to the transcript, translated and certified.
• An academic CV, plus a letter of motivation.
• Language proficiency certificates in Turkish or English, if needed, according to the language of instruction adopted in the program.
• For research or doctoral programs, a scientific research proposal may be required, and a scientific interview may be conducted as part of the evaluation process.

The university usually follows the following schedule (data will be updated as it becomes available):

• Application start date: The system usually opens in late June or early July.
• Results announcement: The results will be released in August.
• Registration and enrollment confirmation: in late August.
• Vacancy Selection (Important): The university usually announces a "second selection" (Ek Yerleştirme) in September. Due to the current circumstances, there may be greater flexibility in this selection process to fill vacant seats, which presents a golden opportunity for students.
• Selection Process: Applicants are ranked according to their YÖS scores (highest priority) followed by their high school grades. A "country quota" system is applied to ensure national diversity, with a maximum number of students from the same country admitted to each department (usually 20%).
