Gebze Teknik Üniversitesi

Gebze Teknik Üniversitesi is a leading public technical university founded in 1992 as the Gebze Technical Institute (GYTE). It was officially recognized as a university in 2014 by Turkish Parliament Law No. 6562. Located in the Gebze industrial zone of Kocaeli Province, just 15 minutes from Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, the university is surrounded by 18 industrial parks and over 50 research and development centers. Comprising four main faculties (Engineering, Science, Construction, and Business Administration), 18 departments, and nine graduate schools, the university has over 8,000 students. Focusing on advanced scientific research in artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and biotechnology, Gebze Technical University is ranked among the top 1001-1200 universities globally according to the QS 2026 rankings, making it an ideal choice for Arab students interested in engineering and technology.

Why do Arab students prefer Gebze Teknik Üniversitesi over others?

  • Firstly, the university is a specialized technical institution with 70% of its faculty members holding PhDs from international universities, and it offers programs taught entirely in English in most engineering disciplines, which is suitable for Arab students who prefer to study in English without needing a long preparatory year.
  • Secondly, tuition fees are reasonable: $1,000-$4,000 per year for bachelor's degrees, and less for Turkish programs, with scholarships of up to 100% through Türkiye Bursları or university scholarships for outstanding students.
  • Third, its strategic location close to Istanbul (only 10 km) allows easy access for families and tourists, and the cost of living is $300-$500 per month.
  • Fourth, the university has 187 research laboratories and 7 centers of excellence, and focuses on industrial collaboration with companies such as Toshiba and BBC, ensuring high job opportunities after graduation.
  • Fifth, the international student community (approximately 1,000 students) includes many Arabs, and the International Student Office provides support in Arabic via WhatsApp.
