Gazi Üniversitesi

Following its recent restructuring, Gazi University focuses primarily on scientific, technical, and medical disciplines, and its most important faculties include:

• Medical colleges: Faculty of Human Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy.  
• Faculty of Health Sciences: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Nutrition.
• Faculty of Engineering: Includes the disciplines of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Computer Engineering, and the College of Architecture.
• Faculty of Technology: It focuses on the practical, applied side of engineering, and includes the specializations of Energy Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Automotive Engineering.
• Faculty of Science: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
• Other colleges: College of Education, College of Sports Science.

Gazi University is one of the most competitive universities, and its admission policy is strict:

Unified YÖS Exam (TR-YÖS):

• There is now almost total reliance on the unified YÖS exam organized by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
• For human medicine and dentistry, the student needs very high grades (often above 450-480 out of 500 in the new system or the equivalent of 90-95% in the percentage systems).
• For engineering, the required grades range from 80% to 90%.

International exams (SAT):

• The university accepts the SAT (SAT 1) exam in some of its admissions processes.
• The total score must be at least 1200.
• A minimum score of 660-680 in the mathematics department is required to compete for medical and engineering specialties.

High school diploma:

• Admission based solely on a high school diploma is rarely granted in medical and engineering fields due to the intense competition.
• Opportunities may be available in science colleges or vocational institutes, but the primary reliance is on the YÖS and SAT.

The application process requires high accuracy in preparing and uploading documents to the university's electronic system:

Essential documents (Bachelor's degree):

• A copy of a valid passport.
• A recent personal photo.
• Original high school diploma (translated into Turkish and certified by a notary or consulate).
• Original, translated, and certified transcripts.
• The exam result document (TR-YÖS or SAT) is considered the most important document for selection.
• High school equivalency certificate (Denklik) - can be submitted upon final registration.

Additional documents (graduate studies):

• Bachelor's degree certificate and transcript (translated and certified).
• Graduate school exam results (ALES or GRE/GMAT) as required by the department.
• A foreign language proficiency certificate (YDS or TOEFL) is a prerequisite for many Master's and PhD programs.
• Letters of recommendation and a letter of motivation.

Application deadline:

• Gazi University usually opens applications once a year,
• The procedures usually begin in June or early July.
• It lasts for a short period (approximately two weeks).

Results announcement:

• The results are announced in July or August.

The selection process:

• The selection process is done online and with high transparency based on scores.
• The university strictly applies the "Country Quota" system.
• A large number of students of the same nationality are not allowed to be admitted to the same department.
• (Usually, no more than 10% or 20% of the seats are for foreigners of the same nationality), which makes the competition between students from the same country very intense.
• The university rarely opens a second round of applications for medical specialties because they fill up immediately, and may open for other specialties in September if vacancies are available.
