About the scholarship

The Albukhary International University (AIU) Scholarship is an exceptional opportunity for international students who wish to pursue their undergraduate studies in Alor Setar, Malaysia. The scholarship is fully or partially funded depending on the family's financial situation, covering all basic expenses, including accommodation and monthly meals, in addition to providing a unique learning environment for self-discovery and international networking.

 Important notes

  • The scholarship does not cover airfare or visa.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old .
  • It is not possible to work during the scholarship period.

Application requirements

  1. Age: 18-22 years old.
  2. Academic GPA: not less than 2.8 out of 4 .
  3. Economic status: The student’s family’s monthly income is less than 300 US dollars .
  4. Marital status: The student must be single and unmarried throughout the scholarship period.
  5. Number of applicants from one family: No more than one member from the same family may be accepted.
  6. Other obligations:
    • Work is not permitted during the scholarship period.
    • No other scholarship or financial aid may be obtained during the scholarship period.

Required files

  1. Fill out the application form online.
  2. Passport copy: for the student.
  3. A personal photo of the applicant.
  4. High school graduation certificate: or proof that you are in your final year of study.
  5. Transcript: If you are enrolled at a university, submit a transcript of your last year of study.
  6. English language proficiency certificate: if available (optional).
  7. Proof of Income Certificate: An official statement showing the family's financial situation and the father's occupation.
  8. Pictures of the house: 3 pictures (exterior, interior, and side view).
  9. Letters of Recommendation: 2 letters of recommendation (written directly by the referees after submitting their email).
  10. Letter of intent: The student explains his or her motivations and goals for applying.
  11. Essay questions: 3 essay questions (150 words each).

Optional documents:

  • Electricity or water bill.
  • A copy of the passport or ID card of the mother and father.
  • Mother and father's income statement.

Admission criteria

  • 40%: Based on the economic and social status of the applicant and his family.
  • 25%: On communication skills.
  • 20%: On personality and performance.
  • 15%: On personal content (letter of intent and essay questions).
