Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi

Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University was founded in 2007 as a state university in the city of Bilecik in northwestern Turkey. Some colleges and institutes were transferred to it after separating from Anadolu University, and its name was changed to Bilecik Şeyh Edebali in 2012 in honor of the Turkish Sufi scholar Şeyh Edebali, who is considered one of the symbols of ancient Turkish history.

What are the accepted exams and required grades for admission to Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University?

The university adopts a flexible policy in accepting international students, and the priorities are as follows:

Unified YÖS Exam (TR-YÖS):

  • The general minimum score mentioned for application: 200 out of 500 (valid for two years).
  • Engineering College Programs - Second Batch: The TR-YÖS score must be 300/500 or more according to the announcement (2025 - 2026).
  • Engineering College Programs – Third Batch: The aforementioned minimum has been reduced to TR-YÖS 250/500 or more according to the announcement (2025 - 2026).

National certificate according to each country:

  • Abitur certificate for Germany and Finland, minimum requirement 4.
  • The Tunisian Baccalaureate certificate has a minimum score of 10 to 20.
  • The Egyptian General Secondary Certificate requires a minimum of (50%) fifty percent.
  • High school diploma for each of (Yemen - Oman - Bahrain - Jordan) minimum (50%) fifty percent.

Important notes:

  • According to the announcement for the (2025-2026) batch, international students will not be accepted into the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry.

What documents and papers are required for application to Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University?

Required documents:

  • Personal photo.
  • A copy of a valid passport.
  • Original and copy of the national certificate (high school - Tawjihi - Baccalaureate) authenticated, translated and certified by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate.
  • Original and copy of the national certificate transcript, translated, certified and authenticated.
  • TR-YÖS test result and inclusion of both the test entry document and the test result document.
  • Receipt for payment of application fees (mentioned as 2,500 Turkish Lira in the 2025–2026 announcements) with the caveat that they are non-refundable.
  • Proof of financial capability: The advertisement requires a financial statement/document that includes the presence of 50,000 Turkish Lira in the bank account (inside or outside Türkiye) according to the format mentioned in the advertisement.
  • The equivalence document (Denklik) for the high school diploma from the Turkish Ministry of Education or from the educational attaché at the Turkish embassy/consulate in your country.
  • General Health Insurance (GSS) policy within Türkiye.

Turkish language requirements:

  • The declaration clarifies the competency levels according to the European framework, stating that B2 (70–89) and C1 (90–100) are “sufficient levels”, while A1/A2/B1 are insufficient.
  • Those who do not have a sufficient level are transferred to a preparatory year of Turkish language.
  • A student who needs a language must first study Turkish at TÖMER Bilecik Şeyh Edibali University, and any study at another center without official guidance may lead to severing ties with the university.

Graduate studies:

  • University/Master's degree certificate according to the degree, in addition to a certified Turkish translation.
  • University/Master's degree transcript translated into Turkish and certified.
  • Documents from YÖK such as Tanınırlık, and an equivalence/recognition document depending on the type of program.
  • Turkish language requirement for postgraduate studies: C1 or higher (those who do not have it need the TÖMER course according to the announcement).
  • A personal photograph, relevant fee receipts, and GSS health insurance.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) for Master's/PhD.
  • Letters of recommendation - Letter of motivation.

What are the official application dates and selection criteria for Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University?

First: Official dates (as published for Bachelor's/Diploma stage 2025–2026)


First round:

  • Application period: August 29, 2025 – September 5, 2025
  • Results announcement: September 12, 2025
  • Registration for accepted applicants: September 15, 2025 – September 30, 2025


Second round:

  • Application period: October 11, 2025 – October 19, 2025
  • Results announcement: October 24, 2025
  • Registration for accepted applicants: November 3, 2025 – November 28, 2025


The third round – the latest in 2025–2026:

  • Application period: November 7, 2025 – November 15, 2025
  • Results announcement: November 21, 2025

Second: The selection process as explained in the university's announcements.

  • Applications are submitted electronically only through the university's international admissions system, with documents being uploaded within the system.
  • Applicants can choose up to 3 programs as a maximum within their application (according to the announcement of the third batch).
  • The committee for accepting students coming from abroad evaluates the files and selects those accepted within the limits of the seats.
  • Meeting the requirements does not automatically mean acceptance; the final decision on selection rests with the committee.
  • After acceptance, the student receives an acceptance document/letter from the system, and the announcement states the need to visit the Turkish embassy/consulate to obtain a study visa.

Official regulatory notes:

  • The announcement mentions an age restriction: applications from those over 30 years of age will not be accepted in the published batches.
  • The announcement also mentions restrictions related to quotas by country.
  • The announcement (within the published 2025–2026 batches) states that applications from holders of certain nationalities will not be accepted.
