Batman Üniversitesi History
Batman Üniversitesi traces its origins to the 1975–1976 Batman Vocational School under the Ministry of National Education, which merged with Dicle University in 1982 (Decree No. 41). It evolved into an independent public university on May 28, 2007, via Law No. 5662 (Additional Article 88, Official Gazette No. 26530), as one of 17 new institutions to boost higher education in underserved regions. Initially managed by İnönü University rector, BU gained autonomy on September 9, 2008, with Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam Uluçam as first rector.
